Finally gave away my art school easel for this splendid one. Packed well, delivered quickly, and easy to assemble (although it will take a second person to hold the top in order for someone else to screw down the hinges at bottom). Still, this is very good quality, and substantial enough to hold very large paintings. Thanks US ART Supply!

Very sturdy and well built

Purchased as a gift, and it is a SOLID piece, smooth casters, and nice color.

I'm really torn with this purchase because I wanted so much to like it.

It seemed perfect online and got some good reviews on Amazon, but I've got a major problem with it: it rocks back and forth. A lot. Many of the reviews touted its sturdiness. I'm finding that almost anywhere I raise the painting surface to each push of my brush creates a wobble that seriously distracts and annoys me.

I took the casters off, weighed down the base with a stack of books and fitted small pieces of foam core into the space between the two parts of the mast (for adjusting) and it's still happening - granted it's to a lesser extent. The top most piece of wood, which is not really important to the design mind you, is surprisingly flimsy.

Also, the crank, something I was really excited about, takes forever to adjust to the height you want it. The bottom most base where the painting would rest only goes up so far, so you have to raise the 2nd of the 3 adjustable shelves and use it as the base, except this one and the highest one are not level as you slide them, so you have to eyeball and adjust the level when you put the panel on.

The price was great for what it seemed to be and I was really drawn to the features, but in the end the drawbacks are too much and they are becoming problems. It's a shame because sending back an easel is not going to be easy (especially because I got rid of the box).
